About Vivek
My name is Vivek Mohan and I’m excited to let you know about my candidacy to be your next Pleasanton City Council representative for District 4.
I love living in Pleasanton. We have great schools, a warm community, a picturesque downtown, and safe and beautiful tree-lined neighborhoods. It’s why many of us moved here to raise our families.
I thought we were immune to the challenges facing other cities and our beautiful state.
However, I am increasingly concerned about warning signs for our city’s future. Crime, city finances, overcrowding, water (safety and cost) and a thoughtful plan for future progress are all issues that need to be addressed quickly to ensure our city remains the great city that we love.
I am a first-generation immigrant who came to the Bay Area 35+ years ago. Ritu and I, along with our two children, have called Pleasanton home for 12+ years. Our daughter graduated from Amador Valley High School. Both of our children have grown into amazing young adults, and we feel so blessed seeing them thrive as they pursue their dreams.
Currently, I am serving on the City of Pleasanton Planning Commission. Prior to that, I was on our Housing Commission.
I also serve as a volunteer on the Advisory Board of One Nation Dream Makers, a local non-profit that feeds the homeless and the under-privileged. It has been eye-opening to see the level of need that exists within our prosperous Bay Area and Tri-Valley!
My education includes a B.A. from India, a B.Sc. in Comp Sc from Cal State University – East Bay, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
As a founder of two small companies, I understand what it takes to build a cost-effective and customer focused organization. As a senior executive running a multi-billion dollar global organization with thousands of team members, I understand how to operate effectively in complex environments.
As an investor and mentor, I have coached teams to be more effective and achieve common goals.
In my spare time, I enjoy weekend motorcycle rides on the scenic backroads of our community. My newest passion is learning the art of making a perfect cup of coffee for my kids and friends!
Grace has been present in my life in abundance. Now, I want to do my part to give back and leave our world just a little bit better than what we were gifted by earlier generations.
